The foundation stone for Coratec AG was laid in 1966 with the development of a material for space travel. Since then, we have been developing, producing and distributing high-quality sandwich panels and systems based on them for the construction, transport and industry sectors worldwide.
Coratec is a manufacturing company in Gunzgen, Switzerland, which develops its own products. The product range consists of high-quality sandwich panels and other products based on this technology. These are mainly used in the construction, transport and industrial sectors.
The customer and his projects are at the centre of our activities. We manufacture exclusively project-oriented according to customer specifications. Our consultants are flexible and quick to process your enquiries and implement your wishes.
We attach great importance to the highest quality. Our products are manufactured exclusively in our production hall in Switzerland. This gives us consistency and control for optimal quality.
Contraves AG in Zurich develops a unique lightweight composite element made of expanded polystryrene foam particles and a liquid synthetic resin, which is then pressed with aluminium plates. The process is patented worldwide. It is intended to be used as an element in the construction of an Ariane rocket of the ESA (European Space Agency), but is not realised.
Contraves sells the patent rights to Schweizerische Aluminium AG (later Alusuisse) after ESA decides to use a different lightweight composite element. Alusuisse optimises the process in its research centre in Neuhausen a. Rheinfall and develops systems for the construction industry (façade construction, noise protection, element house construction).
Foundation of LMS AG (for light metal systems) as an independent subsidiary of Alusuisse and construction of the factory in Gunzgen, Canton of Solothurn.
Start of production of lightweight composite elements, which are offered under the name ALUCOPAN via the Alusuisse distribution network in Switzerland and abroad.
LMS AG is assigned to the business unit of Alusuisse in Singen (D). This combines the manufacturing operations for composite materials in Europe into one business unit.
After the Alusuisse/Lonza merger, LMS AG becomes a production company of Airex AG. LMS AG loses its independence. Under the name Alusuisse Airex AG and later algroup Airex AG, ALUCOPAN is increasingly offered in vehicle construction.
The takeover of algroup by the Canadian aluminium group Alcan leads to a name change to Alcan Airex.
Sale of the ALUCOPAN business with the production facility in Gunzgen to the Schneider Group, Pratteln.Foundation of CORATEC AG as an independent company and distribution of the products under the new, protected brand CORAPAN®. The name of the composite core used from the inventor's time is re-registered as the trademark CORACEL®.
Expansion of the product range through in-house developments. Launch of CORAPAN® BALKON, a new type of lightweight balcony element, and CORATHERM® Aqua and - Elektrik, an energy-efficient, future-oriented ceiling and wall element system for heating and cooling rooms.
Development, production and market launch of CORAHEX®, based on an aluminium honeycomb core. Start of production of CORAFAIR®, a cost-effective composite element for interior fittings.
Development of a non-combustible lightweight composite element made of rock wool and aluminium. The system, marketed under the CORAROC® brand, meets the requirements of fire class A1 according to DIN EN 13501-1:2007.
Commissioning of a new adhesive application machine which enables the production of composite elements up to a format of 3 x 8 metres.
Installation of a new machine for foaming the polystyrene balls used to manufacture the CORAPAN® product portfolio.
CORATEC AG presents itself in new splendour under the URL www.coratec.ch.
Schneider Holding AG sells its shares in CORATEC AG. CORATEC AG thus becomes independent.
With the installation of a new large press (press area 3'000x10'000mm), new possibilities arise for CORATEC AG. With the larger formats and greater capacity, CORATEC AG can now address a larger part of the lightweight construction market.
