Coratec supplies wall elements for an innovative vehicle body made of wood. The converted Unimog 417 will be exhibited by CLB Switzerland in Hall 1.1 / A54 at Holz 2019, which takes place in Basel from 15 to 19 October.
The prototype demonstrates that wooden vehicle bodies are an alternative to the commonly used materials such as GRP and aluminium. CLB Switzerland is carrying out this project with the support of various universities and suppliers. The base vehicle is a Unomog 417, and the side walls were manufactured by Coratec in a sandwich construction with the self-manufactured core and the specially impregnated wooden deck layers. Due to the sandwich construction, the walls are light and stable at the same time and offer optimal thermal insulation.
