Until now, the customer had been purchasing individual panels and processing them in-house or working with suppliers who had long lead times. Both approaches led to problems in the project workflow. In-house processing meant additional effort, an increased risk of errors, and a greater need for coordination between design and production. At the same time, long lead times delayed the entire project schedule. The company was looking for a solution that would not only supply the material but also simplify the entire process.
A set of panels that was completely ready for installation in the vehicle body was produced. A sandwich panel with a high-density core (Corapan AL 280) was used, combined with aluminum face sheets and strategically integrated reinforcements. The decisive factor was not the material alone, but the degree of integration. The panels were CNC-machined, fitted with edge closures, and supplemented with functional elements such as flaps, hinges, and mounting points. The customer no longer received individual parts, but rather a system ready for assembly.
Coratec ’s prefabrication process reduces interfaces and eliminates certain production steps from the customer’s workflow. Components such as aluminum profiles can be integrated into the core during manufacturing, eliminating the need for later adjustments or reinforcements. CNC machining ensures that all elements are precisely aligned with one another and can be assembled directly. This reduces sources of error, saves time, and increases process reliability.
The customer receives ready-to-install panel sets for several vehicles of the same design each year. Installation is significantly simplified, as no additional machining is required. Delivery times are predictable, quality is consistent, and coordination between trades is significantly reduced.
